Media Requests

NYCAM declines requests for comment, interviews, or photographs by journalists out of concern for the safety, agency, and dignity of our medics and patients.

NYCAM medics practice continuous, informed consent and place patient autonomy above all else. We are thoughtful about digital and information security and the risks of criminalization, incarceration, detainment, deportation, and other violence facing comrades. We ask that members of the media in community or in solidarity with us do so as well.

Publishing a photograph or journalistic piece about medics and/or patients in distress or under treatment without the subjects’ consent dehumanizes them, strips them of their agency, and exposes them to retaliation by state authorities, fascists, landlords, and employers.
